WRECK OF THE HOCHST
RESCUE BOAT AGROUND. REPORTED IN GRAVE DANGER. (Australian Press Assot-latinn.l COLOMBO, Oct. 7. The steamer Lauterfels went t,o Minicoy Island to assist in the rescue of theYtranded Hochst, and was herself grounded on the reef. She is now in grave danger. . An attempt to tow her off failed.
LATER. DEFINITELY ABANDONED. LAUTERFELS' POSITION CRITICAL. (Australian Press Association.) (Received October 9, 9.-45 a.m.) COLOMBO. October 8. The position of the Lauterfels, which went to the relief of the Hochst and ran aground, is serious. There is a hole in her hull and a leak in her ballast tanks. She has drifted further on to the reef and is making water. An effort to tow her off failed. The Hochst has been definitely abandoned.
