Sir Harold Beauchamp arrived at Auckland by the Remuera yesterday after a visit to England. Mr. E. C. Day returned to Hamilton last night, from an extended tour of England and the Continent. Mr. F. J. Ansell, of Wellington, publicity manager of Metro-Goldwyn Films, is in Hamilton. Mr. W. Good fellow, managing director of tiie New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company is staying at tiie Hamilton Hotel. Mr. N. IL Hooker, returned to Hamilton yesterday, from a tour of England and the Continents of Europe and America. Mr. H. I. Mcguire, of Huntly was appointed traffic inspector for the Waikato County Council at to-day’s meeting. The Rev. W. E. Lambert, who has been minister at tiie Thames Baptist Church for the past seven years, has accepted a call to the Mosgiel Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Ross, of Hamilton, are touring the United States, on 11 1 c last stage of their world tour. They expect to arrive at Auckland from Vancouver on November 4.

Sampson, of Waerenga, was appointed the representative of the Waikato County Council on the Hamilton Town Planning Committee at to-day's meeting of the council in place of Mr. W. Newell. * Mr Leslie D. Lovelock has been appointed Town Clerk at Palmerston North. Mr Lovelock had been for several years on tiie clerical staff of the Palmerston North Borough Council. The Hon. A. D. McLeod and Mrs McLeod returned to London recently after an extensive tour of England, Scotland and Ireland. They have left for the Continent to spend a month before their return journey to New Zealand, which will be via Suez and Australia, writes a London correspondent. Mr McLeod’s health is greatly improved. Mr G. F. Ycrex, who is vacating the position of conservator of fish and game, at Taupo, was l'arewelled at a public gathering at Taupo. Mr J. Loughlin presented Mr Ycrex with a silver-mounted pocket-book.
Tiie condition of the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, who has been indisposed since Thursday, was reported last evening to be very satisfactory. Sir Joseph was not in tiie House*'last evening and the leadership devolved on the Minister of Justice, the Hon. T. M. Wilford, in the absence from Wellington of the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes.
