MUSIC IN CAMBRIDGE.
COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL. SUCCESSFUL OPENING. RECALLS THIS MORNING. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Monday. There was a good attendance at the opening of the Cambridge Competitions Society’s seventh annual festival this morning. Dr. C. A. Jarman, of Tasmania, is judging the vocal and instrumental sections, and Mr Farquhar Young, of Christchurch, is adjudicating in the elocutionary section. Recalls for the morning session were:— Piano solo, under 14.—Rita Price (Cambridge), Nona Easter (Cambridge). Character Sketch, ladies and gentlemen.—(Miss Gladys Brittain (Auckland) and Mrs W. J. Ward (Cambridge). Piano solo, under 10. —Maurice Woolley (Cambridge), Doris Plescher (Cambridge), and Ross Beange (Cambridge). Vocal solo and accompaniment.— Miss Adele Bell (Pirongia), Mr Cyril Wood (Cambridge), Miss Mary Attwood (Cambridge). Piano Duet, open.—Miss Edna Dakers and William Dakers (Te Puninga), Mrs Veronica Pope and Joyce Hewitt (Auckland), Miss Doris Bigelow and Phyllis Cato (Auckland).
