DAIRY BOARD.
STRONG CRITICISM. TOO EXPENSIVE. PAHIATUA CHAIRMAN’S VIEW. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, Sunday. At the annual meeting of the Koninl Dairy Company the chairman, Mr. M. Alpass, said the operations of the Dairy Control Board were more of a detriment to the farmer than anything else. The board was too expensive. The secretary received a salary of £ISOO a year, which was altogether 100 much. All the members, in fact, were paid 100 much. Mr. Alpass said it was lime steps were taken to have the hoard reduced. The National Dairy Association could carry out the functions adequately, with the assistance of the High Commissioner in London to direct its advertising campaign. AN OPPOSITE VIEW. BENEFIT TO THE INDUSTRY. (By Telegraph.—Press association.) MASTERTON, Monday. When addressing the annual meeting of the Featherston Co-operative Dairy Company Mr. W. A. lorus, chairman of tile Dairy Board, said the company’s total levy to the board for the past season was £123, while the benefit accruing to the company from reduction of costing wi(s £2200. The whole annual levy to the hoard was £3500, while reductions secured for the industry amounted to £450,000. A vote of thanks and confidence in Mr. lorns and the board was carried.
