THEFT OF A HORSE

NATIVE SENTENCED. SIX MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT. When the prisoner Whare Matangi, found guilty at the Hamilton Supreme Court a few days ago of the theft of a horse, came up for sentence before His Honour Mr Justice Ostler this afternoon, His Honour remarked that prisoner had a bad record. He was, however, only charged with one offence now. It was, of course, impossible to grant him probation. He must go to gaol for six months.
