MEAT FOR EXPORT. THE LATEST RETURNS. Exports of meat from New Zealand between October 1, 1928, and August 15, 1929, compared .with the figures for the corresponding period of the 1927-28 season, show that killings of beef for export at all works have totalled 151,755 quarters, compared with 391,981 quarters for the corresponding period of the previous season. Killings of wether mutton show a slight decrease, but killings of ewe mutton are about 15 per cent. less. Pork shows an increase of over 9 per cent., due to the greater export of baconers. ■ Killings of lamb total 5,966,322 carcases, compared with 5,943,104 carcases. Jn sympathy with the lower beef exports, ihe boneless beef trade shows a decrease of over 40 per cent. Sundry meat exports are about 30 per cent, greater.. SALE OF WOOL CRUTCHINGS. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. A sale of wool crutchings was held to-day by the various woolbroking firms. The catalogues comprised 1660 bales and 573 bag lots. To-days results at best showed po decline on recent markets at Home. There was a fair demand up to a point for best classes of crutchings, but the few lots of fleece wool sold at a full penny less than at the last local sale. Passings represented nearly 25 per cent, of the catalogue. The best price for halfbred fleece wool was 14d a lb, for pieces Hid, and for crutchings 10Jd. The range of price was: Super, halfbred crutchings, to 203 d; good halfbred crutchings, 8d to 9id; average halfbred crutchings, 63d to 73d; inferior halfbred crutchings, sld to Old; best merino crutchings, to lOd; best crossbred crutchings, 8d lo 9.}d; halfbred fleece, 12d to 14d; best halfbred pieces, to llid. TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Ltd., report having held their To Awamutu sale on Thursday, when they penned a good yarding of fat cattle and sheep.
