DISUNITED PEOPLE. NEW KING’S RUTHLESSNESS. (By Telegraph.—Tress Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) DELHI, Aug. 29. A disappointed aspirant for the throne of Afghanistan, Prince Mahommed Omar Khan, a nephew of Hie former Amir, who followed up his sensational escape from British surveillance at Allahabad by making a futile hid for power in Afghanistan, now despairs of unity in his native land. The Prince has returned to India, and surrendered to the British authorities. lie is now at Calcutta waiting for the Burma mail boat to take him into exile. He says the tribes will bargain with anyone who will give them money. “If I had £70,000," he declared, “1 could secure the throne." The Prince says there Is little hope of Afghanistans becoming united, owing to the dislike of the ruthlessness of the rebel King Bacha-l-Sakao, and of General Nadir Khan's suspected object, the restoration of ex-King Amanullah. The only foreign Power he suspected of interfering in Afghanistan was Russia. The latest news from Peshawar confirms the fall of Gardez to General Nadir Khan, whose forces have taken 600 prisoners.
