LOCAL ATTRACTIONS.

SCHOOLBOY CHAMPIONSHIP. WHITIORA TO PLAY EAST. Both the local Senior Association football clubs are engaged to-morrow in the Huntly District, completing their championship programme, Claudclands Rovers at Pukemiro and Wanderers at Glen Massey. The attraction at Seddon Park tomorrow afternoon will he a schools match between Hamilton East and Whitiora, who have already met earlier in the season, the result being very close in favour of Whitiora. The youngsters will be very keen to show their paces before the usual following of “ Soccer ” enthusiasts, and it is to he hoped that a good crowd will witness the match to encourage them, as their form has consistently improved. Wallace and Webster for East, and Clark and Crabb of Whitiora, being decidedly capable exponents of the code. Mr D. Edsall will be referee. Claudelands Rovers. Waikato met Manawatu. The former, winning the toss, decided to play with the wind. They took the ball Into the Manawatu area, and raided the goal, but could not score. The forwards could not settle down, their shooting being very erratic, there being 5 no score at halftime. In the second half the Waikato team settled down. Topliss took centre forward position and scored two lovely goals. McLean scored a third, and one of the Manawatu players glanced the fourth into the net from .McLean’s pass to centre. WELLINGTON BEATS WAIKATO. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Wellington won tho North Island primary schools Soccer tourney to-day by defeating Waikato by 2 goals to 1. Wellington thus lakes the shield. Auckland defeated Manawatu today by 5 goals to 0.
