CHILDREN’S FANCY BALL. A most successful and well organised fancy dress ball was held in the Te Awamutu Town Hall on Friday evening. it was organised by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, who deserve great credit for the efficient manner in which the dance was carried out. The Grand March, which was a feature of the evening and was led by Maureen Craig and Mona O’Connor, was a joy to see. Every boy and girl there had their set partner for the evening, and as soon as one group had finished dancing another took its place, each child knowing exactly what to do, and not a hitch occurred.
The fancy dresses were excellent, over 100 children being in fancv dress, and the judges, Mrs C. G. Downes, Mrs C. Storey and Mrs Dunlop, had difficulty in selecting the winners. The children’s part of the programme ended about to o’clock .when they adjourned for supper, the grownups then taking the floor. The music for the children was supplied by Miss P. North (piano).
