HAMILTON HARRIERS.

SATURDAY’S RUN. Last Saturday the Hamilton Harriers Club held an eight-mile crosscountry run from the residence of Mrs B. O. Bartlett, Selkirk Street. A good attendance of members was divided into slow, intermediate, and fast packs, who set out at intervals of ten minutes. J. Ladd and J. Elliott laid the trail along Bryce Street and Ward Street to the Lake gates near the watertower, thence round the edge of the lake and across some swampyground east of the railway line. The permanent way was followed for half-a-mile before branching on on the far side, of the line across open country which afforded several fine specimens of waterjumps in the form of deep, wide ditches. About three miles south of the lake the trail recrossed the railway and led in an easterly direction through a tract of bush on to the main road, which was followed back to the lake gales. The slow pack was caught by the intermediate early in the run, these two packs being overtaken some time later by the fast pack. A handicap run-in was held from the tower gates, resulting in a win for 11. Henry, who was closely pressed by L. Hodgson and F. Hovey. Afternoon tea, kindly served by Mrs Bartlett, proved a most welcome sequel to the run, the hostess being thanked on behalf of the club by 11. Henry.
