The county cricket competitions were continued during the week, with the following results: — Glamorgan v. Gloucester. Glamorgan: First innings, 146 (Goddard took five wickets for 66 and Parker four for 51); second innings, 142 (Parker took seven wickets for 69). Gloucester: First innings, 315 (Hammond 119, making his ninth century, Dipper 68). Gloucester won by an Innings and 26 runs. Nottingham v. Kent. —Nottingham: First Innings, 155 (Freeman took eight wickets for 74); second innings, 125 (Freeman took six wickets for 57; Freeman has taken over 200 wickets). Kent: First innings, 186 (Staples took four wickets for 56); second innings, 58 for five wickets (Barratt took five wickets for 23). Kent.won on the first innings. Sussex v. Surrey. —Sussex: First innings, 221 (Wensley 84; Allan took five wickets for 60) ; second innings, 320 lor seven wickets, declared (Cook 102). Surrey: First innings, 137 (Tate look four for 26); second innings, 160 (Tate took five wickets for 53). Sussex won by 244 runs.
Lancashire v Middlesex —Lancashire: First innings, 180 (Peebles took five wickets for 45 and Robins five for 44); second innings, 143 for eight wickets, declared. Middlesex: First innings, 163 (Macdonald took five wickets for 59); second innings, 51 for four wickets. Lancashire won on the first innings. Leicester v. Yorkshire. —Leicester: First innings, 215 (Riley 77; Macauley took five wickets for 65); second ininnings, 283 for seven wickets. Yorkshire: First innings, 208 (Sutcliffe 61). Leicester won on the first Innings. Essex v. Somerset. —Essex: First innings, 106 (Wellard took four wickets for 41 and White six for 36); second innings, 103 (White took six wickets for 31). Somerset: First innings, 132 (Ilipkin took five wickets for 25); second innings, 75 (Ilipkin took four wickets for 27 and O’Connor five for 34). Essex won by two runs.
Derby v. Northampton. Derby: First innings, 90; second innings 380. Northampton: First innings, 169; second innings, 159. Derby won by 42 runs.
