LAKEHURST REACHED. CHEERING SPECTATORS. ' ROUND THE WORLD TRIP. / (By Telegraph—nresn Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) NEW YORK, August 4. The Graf Zeppelin landed at Lakehurst, New Jersey, at 9.53 p.m. today. This is her second westward crossing of the Atlantic from Friedrichsliafcn, Germany. She covered the distance —about 5331 miles —in 95 hours 23 minutes, compared with 111 hours 46 minutes on her first trip of 6275 miles.
The dirigible brought 19 passengers, one unnamed stowaway, a crew of 40, a cargo of merchandise, and some mails. The immigration and customs inspectors were the first to hoard the airship, after which the passengers descended quietly in the presence of thousands of cheering spectators. The Graf Zeppelin will remain in the hangar at Lakehurst until Wednesday, when she will begin n round-the-world flight from there to Friedrichshafen, on to Tokio, and back to Los Angeles and Lakehurst. Passengers will be charged a fare of £IBOO each. . On his present visit to America, Dr. Eckener will consider plans for another round-the-world cruise in 1930, when he may visit the .North Pole.
