STOCK SALE. AT FRANKTON YARDS. SLIGHT RISE IN BEEF. There was a large attendance at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton saleyards this afternoon. Beef came forward in average numbers, and the quotations were slightly firmer than the previous week's. Sheep were penned in large' numbers and created brisk bidding, while fair yardings of fat and store pigs sold readily. The following are the companies’ quotations up to the time of going to press:—
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., quote:— Good steers, £l2 17s Gd to £ls 10s; lighter steers, £lO 10s to £ll 7s; fat cows, £8 15s to £9 7s 6d; lighter cows, £7 15s to £8 7s; light cows, £5 to £6 12s; fat wethers, 35s 9d to 38s 9d; ewes to 28s; lambs to 31s. Good baconers, £3 8s to £3 12s; light baconers and good porkers, £2 8s to £3 is; light porkers, £1 19s to £2 ss.
Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., quote:—Extra prime heavy fat bullocks, £ls 7s 6d to £l7 ss; light fat bullocks, £ll 15s; prime heavy fat cows, £lO 15s to £ll ss; heavy fat cows; £9 5s to £lO 10s; lighter fat cows, £8 to £9 2s 6d; light fat cows, £6 2s Gd to £7 10s; fresh-conditioned cows, £4 to £5 10s; fat heifers, £6 13s to £7/ 15s; light fat heifers, £4 17s Gd to £6 10s; runners, £4 15s; vealers, £3 2s; heavy fat wethers, 395; medium baconers, £3 to £3 13s; heavy porkers, £2 2s to £2 15s; light, porkers, 34s to £2. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., quote: Fat bullocks, £l3 10s to £l4 ss; fat cows, £9 Is to £9 10s; lighter cows, £5 5s to £G 10s; vealers, £2 to £2 10s; fat wethers, 37s 9d to 395; heavy baconers, £3 4s to £3 11s; lighter baconers, and heavy porkers, £2 5s to £2 18s; porkers, £1 16s to £2 2s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that a good yarding of quality beef came forward. The demand was keen and prices generally were in advance of late rates. Prices were:—Medium 1
weight bullocks made up to £l3 10s; prime fat heifers from £ll 17s Gd to £l2 ss; medium weight heifers, £lO 15s to £ll 6s; light heifers, £8 10s to £9 15s; prime fat cows from £9 2s Gd to £lO 10s; fat cows, £8 to £8 17s Gd; light cows, £5 10s to £7 17s Gd; runners' up to £5 7s Gd; vealers, small from £1 12s to £1 14s. Sheep: A full yarding of fat sheep, which sold as under: Heavy prime wethers made from 38s 9d to £2; prime wethers 37s to 38s 6d, fat ewes, £1 5s 6d; others, £1 3s 9d to £1 4s 6d; fat hoggets, £1 7s Gd. Pigs: A fair yarding of fat and stores, fats being slightly easier than last week’s rate, while stores made a small advance. Best baconers, £3 12s to £4 Is; medium baconers, £3 to £3 8s; porkers, £2 5s to £2 12s; light porkers, 36s to £2 2s; large stores, 24s to 295; slips, 14s to £1; weaners, 8s to 18s 6d.
