Through densely lined streets, from which the traflic had been diverted. General Booth’s funeral procession, a mile and a-lialf long, marched to the Abbey Park cemetery from the lnter-1 national Headquarters. I Bands played the General’s favourite hymn tunes. I General Booth’s chauffeur, Adjutant Pritchard, drove the funeral car, which, had carried the late General on many* campaigns. The shroud was Inscribed In white letters, “In action faithful, in honour clear.”

Refusing to ride, Mrs Booth followed the bier on' foot, accompanied by other relations, General Higgins and Commissioner Mapp following. An immense crowd assembled at the cemetery, where the service was conducted by Commander Catherine Booth. The late General Booth was laid to rest in a grave lined with white and pink sweet peas beside his parents. • The concourse of 10,000 Salvationists fervidly sang typical army hymns.

His son Lieutenant Bernard Booth gave the final salute.
