The champion sculler, Barry, despite rough water and an injured arm, defeated three leading Tideway scullers —S. Perrin, It. Dowson, and H. Walford —each rowing a third of the distance, over the University course, from Putney to Mortlake, in 24min 23sec. Barry covered the whole distance, winning every section.
