The New Zealand Gazclte announces that correspondence for W. Raynor, Melbourne, and P. Facy, Hobart, is banned by the Postmaster-General.
The proportion of deaths to the 1000 of population in Hamilton last year is given as 0.64. The highest proportion was 0.86 at Hastings, and the lowest was 0.48 at Invercargill.
The Taranaki Agricultural Society has received record entries in the dairy produce section of Us Winter Show. The entries in cheese are more than double those received last year.
Attention is drawn to an advertisement of a special sale of 320 grade Jersey weaner and in-calf heifers and 50 dairy cows to be offered at Inglewood, Taranaki, on behalf of Mr J. Moralli, Kaimata. Intending buyers of Taranaki heifers are recommended to attend this sale.
On Sunday afternoon the Waikato Regimental and Hamilton Municipal Band, under the baton of SergeantMajor M. K. Mara, will play at the Waikato Hospital.
The Maori Nikora Haora, who was recently arrested’ in Auckland for masquerading a.s a female and taking a position as a housemaid, is singing as a female impersonator at one of flic picture theatres in Auckland.
A suggestion that the name of the Aramoho Railway Station should he changed to "Wanganui Junction” was made at ‘ the last meeting of the Wanganui Automobile Association. A resolution approving the alteration in name and appointing Mr It. G. Whittall to approach the Chamber of Commerce was carried.
The policy of the Railways Department in reducing its rates in competition with shipping companies and demands by labour unions for increased wages and other considerations were criticised by Mr Charles Rhodes, chairman of directors, at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Northern Steamship Company, Ltd., yesterday.
