Of the 113,977 bales catalogued it is estimated that the amount sold to Home buyers comprised 20,000 bales, and to the Continent 52,000 bales. Fortytwo thousand bales are held. Competition throughout was somewhat restricted. On the whole prices did not show severe fluctuations, but there was some weakening towards the close. Compared witii March rates finest merinos were unchanged; Broad Haired were from par to five per cent, easier; scoureds were unchanged, except the best type .of Queensland and New Zeaalnd, which were about five per cent, higher; greasy crossbred and fine were about five per cent, easier; lower grades were slightly in buyers’ favour; all classes of scoureds were unchanged/ Of. lambs’ wool merino was from par to five per cent, easier. Crossbreds were firm with prices unchanged. New Zealand clips, “G.8.K.,” highest price 16d; average 15 id; Tunitaki 17d and 16d.

Dalgety and Company, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London house, dated May 15: — Wool.—The sales closed active but irregular. . Bates as compared witii the closing rates of last series are: Greasy Merino, Id to 2d lower; scoured Merino, unchanged; greasy halfbred, lid to 2jd lower; scoured' halfbred, unchanged; greasy crossbred, fine, id to Id- lower; greasy crossbred, ..medium, par to id lower; greasy crossbred, coarse, unchanged; scoured crossbred, par to Id.lower; fine sllpe, Id lower; other descriptions slipe, unchanged; lambs, Id to lid lower; crossbred greasy bellies and pieces, 3d to Id lower. We offered 113,900 bales. The home trade have bought 39,500 bales, Coninent 52,000 bales, carried forward 42,000 bales, of which 26,500 bales, were not offered. The total sold was’ 91,500 bales. Super largely nominal. Quotations: Merino good to super 19id to 23id; low to medium, 16d to 181 d; halfbred, 56’s to’SS’s, good to super, 19d to 22id; low to medium, 16-Jd to 18*; halfbred, 50’s to 56’s, good to super, 18*d to 2id; low to medium, 16d to 18d; fine crossbred, 48’s to 50’s, good to super, 17id to 19id; low to medium, 15d to 17d; line crossbred, 46’s to 48’s, good to super, 17d to 19d, low lo medium, 14 id to 16|d; crossbred, 44’s lo 46’s, good to super, IGd to 18d; low to medium, 14d to 15id; crossbred, 40’s to 44’s, good to super, 15Ad lo 16Jd; low to medium, 13*d to 15d; coarse crossbred, 36’s to 40’s, good to super, 15d to 16d; medium to good, 13d to 14Jd.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, have received the following cablegram from their London House, dated May 15, 1929:—W00l sales: Closed this day." The prices realised for average Ro super grades of descriptions as below, as follows:—Merino super, 20d to 23d; average, 17d to 18d; cross-bred (SG-58’s), J9d lo 22d; (50-50’s), JBd to 19d; (48-50’s), IGd to 17Ad; (46-48’s) 15lcf to 17d: (44-46’s),"l4*d to IGd; (40-44’s), 14d to 15Ad; (36-40’s), 14d to 15d.
