THE Y FRANKLIN MEETING. PREPARATIONS AT ELLERSLIE. THIS MORNING’S TRACK WORK. SOME USEFUL GALLOPS. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The weath’er was line for training work at Elierslie this morning. The course proper, with the hurdles 26 feet out from the rails, and the No. 3 grass track were available for fast work. The going was fair. On the course proper Salamander ran six furlongs in 1.26 2-5, while Modest Boy and High Pitch covered a round in 2.9 1-5. The first six furlongs occupied 1.24 1-5, and the last four furlongs 565. Myola and Zane Grey covered half-a-mile in 545. Cup Candidates for Saturday. The Lover, who is in the Massey Memorial Cup on Saturday, was ahead of Thursby at the finish of a mile, run in 1.49 4-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.23 2-5. Bennie beat Wild Country over Cve furlongs in 1.9 2-5, the last three furlongs taking 41 4-5. Bizarro and Brampton ran a mile in 1.50 3-5, and Te Money (alone) covered seven furlongs in 1.37. Eager Rose, who was picked up by Theodolite at the half-mile post, ran a mile in 1.50 3-5. the last four furlongs taking 54 2-5. Neil covered five furlongs in 1.9 4-5, and Dave ran half a mile in 51 2-5.

Praetor Beats Lady Suzanne. Praetor beat Lady Suzanne at the finish of half a mile in 51 2-5. Otranto easily beat Ambrosia at the finish of five furlongs in 1.8 3-5. Mon Star anjj Roman Pearl covered six furlongs in 1.21, the latter pleasing most. Good Boy ran five furlongs in 1.8. Zircon was given a good working gallop over a couple of rounds. Welkne went six furlongs, the last three taking 425. Diamond Queen beat Killute at the finish of six furlongs in 1.20 3-5. Bahama ran six furlongs in 1.21 1-5. Clockwork covered half a mile m 555, and Chelone ran six furlongs, on the tan. in 1.25. The Jumpers. Sleepy Sol and Baylv Damon went over a round of the schooling hurdles, and the former shaped very pleasingly. Marita and Kauri Park also gave a good exhibition over a round. Lady Spalpeen jumped two hurdles in good style. War Officer and Adjuster negotiated two hurdles safely, and were then sent a round on the No. 3 grass track, which they ran in 1.53. Zane Grey was also schooled over pony hurdles several times. DIVISIONS ARRANGED FOR. TRIAL HANDICAP AND STAKES. (Bv Telegraph—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Owing to large numbers of horses engaged in the Trial Handicap and the Franklin Stakes, to be decided at Franklin meeting on Saturday .next the Helds have had to be divided. The divisions of the Trial Stakes will form the llrst event of the day, the totalisator being only open once for the two divisions. The stakes have been increased to £l5O, the winner of each division receiving £6O, second £lO, and third £5. The Franklin Stakes has also been divided, but owing to there being only seven races on the original programme and the club being entitled to open the totalisator on eight occasions in one day, the divisions w*ill be treated as separate races, the machine being open on each. The value of the stakes has been increased to £l2O for each division, the winner to receive £IOO, second £ls, and third £5. These divisions will form the fifth and seventh races on the programme. In order that the programme can be got off in good time the first race will start at 11.15 a.m. and the last at 4.40 p.m. TRIAL HANDICAP. Of £150; 6 fur.
