SAMOAN BENCH.
THE CHIEF JUSTICE. MR J. LUXFORD APPOINTED. TO LEAVE THIS MONTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, Tuesday. Mr J. Luxford, S.M., of Whangarel has been appointed Chief Justioe at Samoa. It Is understood he will leave New Zealand at the end of this month.
Mr Justice Luxford was appointed to the Magisterial Bench on Marcn 15 last year and has since been in charge of the •Whangarel district. The new judge Is well known in Hamilton, where he served his apprenticeship to the law in the office of Messrs Mac Diarmid and Mears. He Is a brother of Mr F. W. Luxford, of this town. Judge Luxford is about 40 years old. He was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and then came to Hamilton. He afterwards practised law at To Awamutu, but enlisted for service at the front with the Rifle Brigade in 1915. On his return to New Zealand after the war he practised for, a time at Hamilton, but after aboul two years, went to Auckland, joining Mr Napier and afterwards becoming a partner in the firm of Fitchett, Rees and Luxford. He continued with that firm till his appointment to the Magisterial bench.
