HOCKEY.
IVSATAMATA v. WAITOA. OPENING OF THE SEASON. The opening match of the season look place last Saturday at Waitoa, resulting in a win for Matamata after a closely-contested game by 3 goals to 2. Sutherland scored all the points for the winners. The game throughout was hard and fast, the players showing remarkably good form so early in the season. Players in both centres are very enthusiastic, and the game is fast coming into its own in the Piako Association. .
