WAHAROA,

Public Hall Affairs. The monthly meeting of the management committee of the public hall attended by Messrs W. P. Ryan (chairman), J. S. Dickey, D. R. Gunn, W. E. Ayers, R. L. Scott, O. L. Lasenby, and the secretary, Mr W. Farley. The financial statement, dealing with the receipts and expenditure connect-] ed with the business transacted at the cinema entertainments in the past month revealed a satisfactory result. For some time negotiations have been in progress regarding the purchase of the section of land immediately adjoining the hail, and at this meeting the purchase of the section was arranged. The necessity for securing the land arose as the result of the requirements for exit purposes under the regulations governing places of entertainment. The hall is erected almost upon the boundary of the original property, and arrangements will require to be made to comply with the regulation while the building is used for such purposes. Tenders were recently called for the tenancy of the buffet conducted on the ball property, andthese-received. con-,

sideration, Mr T. S. Whitworth, toeing the successful applicant. An amendment of the legal docu- . ments covering the property administered by the trustees having become necessary, a ballot was taken for two trustees to occupy vacancies which have developed. Messrs J. S. Dickey .and W. E. Ayers were elected to the positions. The Board of Trustees as now constituted comprises Messrs W, P. Ryan, D. R. Gunn, R. L. Scott, J, S. Dickey, and W. E. Ayers. An inquiry from the local committee of the Anglican Church in reference to a picture entertainment being promoted in aid of funds for that committee was considered, but the committee did not favour the project. Such entertainments have been held in the past for the benefit of the local school, but It is not the intention of the committee to permit the practica to develop for other purposes. Personal. Mr and Mrs E. Waite, of Auckland, and Mr and Mrs W. F. Bartels visited Mr and Mrs Scott during the Easter holidays. Mr A. Annear, of Wellington, was the guest of Mr B. Scherer during th* holidays.
