ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES

CHILD KILLED BY LORRY. PAPAKURA, Friday. Fatal injuries were sustained by Mervvn Paul, aged six years, son of Mr and Mrs Paul, Papakura, this morning through being knocked down by a motor-lorry as lie was crossing the Great South Road. The lorry was driven by Mr C. C. Petersen, of Paparata. DEATH FROM GAS. AUCKLAND, Saturday. William Ewing, a bachelor, aged about GO, residing in Avondale, was discovered dead with his head in a gas oven yesterday afternoon.

THROWN FROM MOTOR-CYCLE. Painful injuries were sustained by Messrs A. J. Wills and L. Rice, of Waharoa, as the result of a mishap while riding a motor-cycle upon the main road approaching Tirau. The accident occurred as the machine approached the level crossing, and both riders were thrown into the watertable. Mr Wills, who sustained internal injuries and severe shock, was admitted to the Public Hospital at Matamata, where he remained for several days. He has not yet been able to resume his occupation. Mr Rice had a foot injured and received medical attention at the hospital before being conveyed to' Waharoa. Both men are employed at the dried milk factory at Waharoa.

THROWN FROfVI HORSE. While working upon his father's farm at Wardville recently Mr Ivan Tuck met with a serious accident. He was riding a horse and sustained painful injuries to his back when Ihe animal stumbled upon uneven ground. .Mr Tuck, senior, conveyed his son lo the Waikato Hospital at Hamilton for X-Ray examination, after he had received preliminary medical attention, hut the sufferer is now at home.
