] REID CUP MATCHES. FIFTH ROUND COMMENCED. The fifth round of the Reid Cup cricket matches was commenced on Monday evening. -The games will be concluded this evening. The Post and Telegraph in their match against the Electrical Workers went in to bat first and completed their innings for 141 runs. Paice made the best stand, with 66 to his credit. Police v. Imperial. Imperial batted first in the match Police v. Imperial, and were all dismissed for 90. They made a bad start, the tally at one time reading six wickets down for 9 runs, but Going and Skeet batted splendidly, the former knocking up 52 and the latter 24. Police commenced *their first innings and were six wickets down for 42 when stumps were drawn. Law v. Borough. The Borough Council men faced the bowling first and made a good tally of 133. Owens 49, Livingstone 31, and Davies 20 were the batsmen responsible for the high score. Dairy v. Y.M.C.A. Y.M.C.A. made a great stand against the Dairy Co. team, compiling 162 before the last wicket fell. The best scorers were: Eyre 50, Morrow 26, Bamford 18, Dempsey 17. Railway v. Para Rubber. The Railway team were all dismissed for 97 by the Para Rubber team — Muir 24, Snowling 21, and Wheeler 17 not out, being the batsmen who could manage the bowling. SHEFFIELD SHIELD. QUEENSLAND V. VICTORIA. BRISBANE, Feb. 5. In the Sheffield Shield cricket match to-day, Queensland, in their second innings scored 224 (Thompson 90, Nothling 12). Ironmonger took four wickets for 60 runs, Gamble four for 66. Victoria in their second innings made 183 for two wickets (Onyons 109 not out).
