BAY OF ISLANDS SEAT.

PETITION NOT OPPOSED. The hearing of the petition against the election of Mr H. M. Rushbrook as the representative of the Bay of Islands electorate will not be opposed. As the onus of proof is on the petitioner, the Electoral Court, consisting of Mr Justice Herdman and Mr Justice Ostler, will still sit to hear it at Kaikohe on January 28, as arranged. The absence of opposition will probably have the effect of somewhat shortening the proceedings.
