DOMINION TOURNAMENT. YESTERDAY’S PLAY. PERFECT WEATHER AGAIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Perfect weather again prevails for the continuation of matches in the Dominion howling tournament, and the greens are playing splendidly. There is a complete absence of wind, with prospects of a very hot afternoon. The Play. Bell (Hamilton) was drawn against Doherty (Kplburn), both having two lives. Doherty started with a four, but Bell replied with a five and a three. Big scoring on both sides saw Bell 20 to 19 on the 15th head. Steady play by the Kelburn team held Bell in check, and he was three down when starting the last end. A 'Single was all he could score, and this gave the Hamilton team its first loss. In the following round the position looked had for Bremner (West End) when opposed to Bell (Hamilton). The latter jumped into the lead from the start, and was leading 14—9 on the 16th head. Bremner drove out a bowl for four shots next end, Bell failing to save the situation. A single to Bell was followed by two two’s to Bremner, putting him two up and one to play. The West End team did not fail and won by 19—15. Bell was thus put out of the competition. In the singles competition Parsons (Ponsonbv) had a comfortable win against North (Tc Awamutu) although the score was 16 all on the 16th head. North failed to score a further point, and received his first loss. de Launay (Epsom) . played North (Te Awamutu), and another close game resulted, with North just keeping ahead right through. Requiring two to tie on the last head, de Launay laid a trap for North, and fhe Waikato champion allowed de Launay to trail for three shots with, his last bowl, which put him into the final. RINKS CHAMPIONSHIP. Second Round. Jack (St. John) 26 v. Kruse (Hastings) 17; Edwards (Temuka) 23 v. Hucston (Gisborne) 19; Rennie (Christchurch) defeated Higgott (Whitiora) 19; Bain (Levin)' 17 v. Clarke (West End) 16. Third Round. Franks (Mastcrton) 19 v. Walker (Auckland) 14; Laurenson (Linwood) 20 v. Stephens (Kelburn) 17; Fielding (Hataitai) 20 v. Morton (Masterton) 19; Jack (St. John’s) 20 v. Smiih (Dunedin) 19. Fourth Round. Laurenson (Linwood) 20 v. Fielding (Hataitai) 17. This win 'places Laurenson in the semi-finals. Fifth Round. These games were played to a finish in the dark, the games ending at 8.30 p.m. To-morrow McWhannell plays Bremner, and Doherty has a bye. Rinks Left' In. The last round of play saw six rinks left in the contest: —Bremner (West End), Findlay (Mt. Eden), Beil (Hamilton), Doherty (Kelburn), Ardell (Hataitai), and McWhannell (Hataitai). As it happened, two Wellington rinks Doherty and Ardell, and two Auckland rinks, Bremner and Bell, were drawn against one another, while Findlav was drawn against McWhannell Doherty’s was the only rink left in with two lives. As the result of the play-off on this round McWhannell and Doherty, the latter still with two lives, and Bremner remain in the final games. CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. In the Pairs Championship, first section, third round, Temuka (Edwards) 32, defeated Levin (Bain), 6. Kelbourn (Roullcy), won by default from llcnnie (Christchurch). Rinks Championship. In the rinks championship semi-final West End (Bremner), 25, beat Hataitai (Mcwhannell).
