TROUBLE AT MINES.
SEVERAL RENDERED IDLE. “TWIN” SYSTEM OBJECTED TO. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.) GREYMOUTH, Thursday. Trouble at the Blackball mine owing to the management refusing to agree to the “ twin ” system of employment, as desired by the union, resulted in the mine being rendered idle yesterday and to-day, 230 men being affected. The Dobson mine was also idle yesterday and to-day, 250 men being affected. It is understood the cause of this trouble was that the men refused to walk a hundred feet down the main incline to reach the trolleys used for conveying them underground. The trollies were left a hundred feet lower than usual for safety reasons. The State mine was rendered idle yesterday, 180 men being affected. The management declined to allow four men to work, as they JefL the mine early the previous day, and the remainder of the men refused to continue. . The mine is working to-day.
