Mr Boucicaul’s, the actor’s interview’ at Auckland, in which he said he was disgusted with Australia and that he would never return, is featured in the Sun newspaper side by side with what purports to be his farewell remarks here before leaving for New Zealand, one sentence of which may be quoted: “We shall always think of our happy association with you, both theatrically and socially.” The Sun heads this up “ An Actor’s Mind ” " Did Boucicault Change It?” The Sun also publishes a second Auckland interview in which Mr Boucicauit hastens to explain that his condemnation referred solely to Australian strikes and agitators. J. C. Williamson’s general manager here expresses the opinion that an entirely wrong impression has been placed on Mr Boucicault’s farewell observations.
