JACK POPE’S DEATH.
BROTHER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. MENTALLY -UNSOUND. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —copyright.) (Australian Press Association.! (Received Jan 17, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 17. At an inquest into the death of Jack Pope, his brother Philip, was committed for trial on a charge of murder. The police stale that Philip appeared to he mentally unsound. When Mrs Pope, of Moorabbin, near Sydney, returned from her shopping expedition on Christmas Eve,, she found that her son Jack, aged 10, had been shot dead in her absence, and his elder brother Philip, aged 14, was missing. He told his five brothers and sisters that he was going to tell the police about the shooting. Philip was later found enjoying himself at a picnic and was arrested on a charge of murder.
