A great deal of interest was taken in the expected arrival by the Corinthic of Miss Mercedes Gleitze, the noted Channel swimmer, hut she was not aboard, not even incognito apparently. She is reported lo have planned to swim Cook Strait. Those who went with "the expectation of meeting her had to content themselves with the information that she is expected on the next ship.
