HUGE MEAT FIGURES. At Flemington saleyards during the year, 51 additional cattle pens were erected, and minor improvements were carried out, says a Sydney paper. To give some idea of the magnitude of the Sydney Metropolitan Meat Board’s activities, yardings at Flemington during the year totalled 300,000 cattle, 3,000,000 sheep; yardings at Homcbush, 65,000 pigs, 52,000 calves; slaughterings, 235,000 cattle, 2,200,000 sheep, 175,000 pigs. From the by-products department there were sold 4000 tons of tallow, 3000 tons of fertiliser, 15,000 gallons of neatsfoot oil, 350 tons of bones, and 350 tons of hide pieces. Large quantities of sinews, horns, and hoofs were also treated and sold. In addition, rrfore than 3000 tons of poultry foods were manufactured and sold, altogether some 80,000 Bags af varying sizes being dispatched to poultry faripers.
