FURNITURE DESTROYED. THROUGH LORRY CATCHING FIRE. MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. As the result of a lorry going over a bank and catching fire practically all the furniture of Mr and Mrs G. Lindsay, Patctonga, which was on the lorry, was destroyed. Mr. Lindsay recently purchased a farm at Waitakaruru and was transferring the household effects by Mr. N. K. Evans’ lorry. A short distance from Patetonga the vehicle ran over a bank and caught fire. It was destroyed, together with all the furniture and clothing. Mr. Lindsay’s belongings had been insured at Patetonga for £3OO. OUTBREAK AT HOTEL. AUCKLAND, Thursday. By a fire in the basement of the Waverley Hotel early yesterday morning, the rafters and walls were charred. Several packing cases were the only contents damaged.
