COSTUME JEWELLERY.

THE NEWEST DESIGNS. Two shades of green, one simulating chrysoprasc and the other new light but warm colour, a dark amethyst, amber, rose, and a blue between a baby and a turquoisb blue, comprise the important colours accented in the collection of spring jewellery. The group is devoted mainly to chokers in which colour' contrasts and new' shapes are approved, both in simulated crystals and in beads of other types. Engraved crystals in flat graduated effects are interrupted by small beads of colour between, either to match or contrast. Sapphire, rose, topaz and white are the crystal colours.

A new shape of bead is cut in a deep crescent-shaped segment in Iransluccnt glass in a range of six new colours. Crystals appear in triangles • strung base to base with a small coloured bead between, as well as in long hexagonal shapes with short top and bottom sides. Semi-circles strung on end completed by a pendant are shown, and flat hexagonal beads with faceted surfaces are also included.

The leaf motif in glass with an oval pendant is another new interpretation in choker form in blue, green, lavender, rose, and carnelian. Engraved leaf crystals with coloured beads between are effective. Quite new is the open oval of simulated crystal arranged with three coloured beads in the centre and with a larger bead between. Triangular glass motifs such as were featured last season now add pendants. Pearls combine with flat pearls and coloured triangles or semicircles of glass in colour, with small beads in back.

The new pear] necklace is round and graduated with the surface resembling a ■ hand-hammered effect. A necklace of toothlike coloured glass pendants cupped in silver metal is reproduced in a range of colours, including jade, blue, yellow, and matt crystal.- , •
