• Gesto, who was taken to Sydney with Raasay, and changed hands there for 700 guineas, was the medium of a big plunge at Randwick recently, when he won the’Second Division of the Trial Stakes. Gesto had not run for some. months, and, according to * reports, his movements were kept quiet. But the public soon got to know about the “good thing,” and, following the stable lead, backers stepped in and supported him liberally, and Gesto went to the post a warm favourite. 4 From an outside position at the barrier he was riot prominent early, but once in the straight he finished well, and in the end won comfortably. Gesto is a three-year-old gelding by Lord Quex from Queen Lizzie, and formerly raced in the Interests of Mr J. S. McLeod.
