SOCIAL NOTES.

Mrs H. Buckleton and Miss Jean Buckleton were the guests of Mrs Lai. Walker at Kiwitahi for Christmas, and are now the guests of Mrs W. H. Hume, in Hamilton. .

Mrs H. J. Ferguson has returned to Hamilton from a holiday at the Mount, Tauranga.

Mrs G. Sf.ndford, of Hamilton, is spending a holiday at Waikeke Island.

Mrs E. E. Hooper, accompanied by her niece, Miss Jessie Buchanan (Waimate), left for the South by last night’s express. Mrs D. Andrews and Mrs J. Boyce (Auckland) have left on an extended tour of the North and South Islands.

Mrs H. Caro has returned to Hamilton from a holiday in Auckland.

Mrs Tond, of Auckland, has returned to her home after a holiday at the Thames Coast.

Mrs W. C. Somers, of To Aroha, is the guest of Mrs H. T. Gillies, River Road.

Mrs Geo. McCallum, of Paterangi, entertained a number of friends at a most enjoyable bridge party. Ten guests were present, and a very pleasant evening was spent in cards and social chat, followed by a delectable supper.

Mrs G. Allwood and family have returned to their home in Morrinsville after a holiday spent at the Mount, Tauranga.

Mrs Budge, of Maungatautarl, Is holiday-making at St. Heliers Bay.

Miss V. Middleton, of Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs G. Middleton, of Horahora.

Mrs D. Ariell and family, of Maungatautari, are spending a holiday at the Waihi Beach.

Mrs H. Osborne, of Te Awamutu, spent a few days with the Misses Osborne, of Horahora.

ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Ima Imelda, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. Rowell, of Stratford (late of Devonport, Auckland), to William Victor Douglas, of Hamilton, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Douglas, of Mt. Eden, Auckland.
