Memorial Tablet Unveiled. A memorial tablet, to the memory of lie late Mr A. A. Wagstaff has been nveilcd at the Eastport Church. On he occasion of the. unveiling the Rev. ienrierson referred to the large place Mr Wagstaff had for years filled in inirch work, and on various public 'indies. Mr F. W. Wallers also paid a tribute to I he. personality, integrity and unselfishness of their late friend. Church for Springdale. A church is to he erected at Springflair, near Waitoa, and is expected to be completed early in the New Year. Mining Litigation. At (he Magistrate's Court, Tc Aroha, William J. Cornes petitioned against. G. K. Hyde holding the mining rights lo the Peter .Maxwell mine, near Te Aroha, on the grounds .that the holder was not working the claim. The plaintiff stated he had some lime ago expended £IOO on a portion of the claim. In his evidence the defendant stated he had been unable to form a company, lie and some friends had spent E 1650 on the mine. Two samples of ore taken out were valued at £lB lis per lon and £4l 10s per ton respectively. The Magistrate gave his decision in favour of Cornes, while Hyde gave nolice of appeal.

Trophy for A. & P. Association

Mr C. E. MacMillan, M.P., has presented a handsome silver cup to the Thames Valley ' Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Association. It will probably he allotted as a points prize in the cookery section.

Justices of Peace Association

Mr A. J. Burrows, president, presided at the annual meeting of the Te Aroha branch of the Justices of the Peace Association. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr Platls, S.M.; president. Mr \Y. H. Johnson; secretary, Mr G. Hedge; committee, Messrs 11. Jackson, F. M. . Strange, W. Wright. W. I. Hughes, S. Scllars, Howard, and \Y. Luxton.

Mr Johnson said they were sorry to lose Mr Burrows, who was leaving for Australia. He wished Mr Burrows and family the best of good things the world could ortVr. Messrs Strange, W. Luxton and Hal left also spoke eulogistical! y of the services Mr Burrows had rendered lo the district.
