8000 IN ONE FAMILY.

ASSIST BARNARDO'S HOMES. AND HELP TIIE EMPIRE. To feed, clothe, house and educate some 8,000 boys and girls is no light undertaking even in these days of wonders; yet that is the daily task of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. It was in the early 'sixties when the late Dr. Barnardo laid down his now famous charter “No destitute child ever refused admission." Its inception arose out of his tragic personal experience when he learned that little "Carrots,” lo whom he had offered the next vacancy, was found dead in the streets from exposure and starvation- Never again must such a things happen! Front that day forward the Doctor with the great heart determined that whether there was money in the hank or not. no such child should ever be refused admission. The present number #f ibe family is almost 8,000, some hundreds of whom arc crippled or afflicted in various ways. Imagine meal-lime for 8,000, not just once occasionally, hut three times a day, and every day in the year. Think in terms of bread, butter and jam, milk, fish, meat; and think also of hoots ami shoes by the thousand; likewise socks and stockings. The council of Dr. Barnardo's Homes earnestly desire tiie help of all lovers of little children. Send them 10s and get in return tiie joy of feeling that for at least ten days you are feeding one forlorn little one. To help Barnardo's is to help tiie Empire, for they are making At citizens out of C3's.

Over 30,000 trained young people have been placed in the British Dominions. Cheques and orders may be made payable to "Dr. Barnardo's Homes Food Fund," and crossed, and addressed to “Dr. Barnardo's Food Fund,' 1 18-20, Stepney Causeway, London, E.l.
