The erection of a statue of the late Mrs. Pankhurst either near the House of Commons or at the end of Downing Street, the scene of many militant suffrage battles, is proposed. An appeal is being made for a fund of £2OOO, which her "admirers hope to obtain by subscription throughout the world. ' Mr. A. G. Walker, the sculptor of the Florence Nightingale statue in Waterloo Place, has completed a plaster sketch representing Mrs. Pankhurst, without a hat and attired in the favourite evening coat in which she appeared on many_platforms.
