BUTTER AND CHEESE. Dalgety and Company, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London house, dated November 29: —Butter: The market is very quiet. New Zealand, finest salted, 174 to 1765; Danish, 198 s to :200s; Australian, finest unsalted, 182 sto 186 s; salted, 170 sto 1745; good average quality, 164 s to 168 s. Cheese: The market for New Zealand cheese is slow. The market for Canadian cheese is steady. New Zealand, white, 101 s to 103 s; coloured, 101 s to 102 s; Canadian, while, 106 s to 112 s; coloured, 106 s to 110 s. OTOROHAMGA SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Te Kuitl, reports:—The fortnightly Otorohanga sale was held on Wednesday. Buyers attended from the surrounding districts and competition was keen for a heavy yarding of steers. The few pigs penned sold at current rates, slips making from 20s 6d to 23s 6d; sows, due to farrow shortly, up to £2 7s. For a small yarding of sheep prices were on a par with previous sales; shorn wethers brought from 26s 6d to 275; woolly wethers, 38s 6d. Fat cows made from £7 9s to £8 Is; forward cows, £5 7s to £6; lighter conditioned, £3 19s to £4 10s; fouryear Shorthorn bullocks, £lO 3s to £lO las; three-year steers, £8 16s; 2-year steers, £7 12s 6d to £7 -15 s; good yearling Shorthorn steers. £5 10s to £6 16s; smaller steers, £5 to £c 4s; mixed colours, £4 7s to £5. An average yarding of heifers met good demand, yearling shorthorn heifers bringing from £3 lis to £4 7s 6d; yearling Jersey cross heifers, £5 16s to £5 19s; smaller heifers (mixed colours), £3 2s to £3 10s; Jersey bulls sold from £6 os to £8 5s to £9 9s. Prices for dairy cows and heifers showed an advance on the previous sale. Jersey springers realised from £8 10s to £ll Is; Shorthorn springers from £9 10s to £lO 15s.
