QUEEN CARNIVAL.
PARTY FOR FRANKTON TOWN AND RAILWAY QUEEN. On Monday night a very successful coin evening was held in the Railway Institute in aid of the Frankton Town and Railway Queen, Miss K. Tooman. Mrs. G. Scott and Mrs. J. Browne carried out the duties of hostesses admirably, and Mr. J. Browne as M.C., kept everything going with a swing. Community singing, with Mrs. Douch as pianist, served to open the evening, continuing with dances and competitions, interspersed with several excellent items. Miss Whitlock made a very efficient accompanist. Dainty dances,- for which Miss E. Green" olayed, were given by Miss Edmonds and" Miss Maroney, and songs rendered by Mrs. Marsh, Misses Downcs, Messrs Cox, Exelby, Wheeler, and Te Wiri were soundly encored. Mr. Marsh and Mr. Bateman were excellent in some exceedingly humorous sketches. It has been suggested that two certain young men open dressmaking establishments after showing their skill in that direction. During the evening Mr. G. Brown took the opportunity to introduce Miss Tooman to the guests and to present her with a bouquet. The evening ended with musical honours for Miss Tooman.
