A MAGISTRATE BAFFLED. "WOMAN IN A DILEMMA. it Marylebone Police Court a few • ago a woi_an stated that when he rented rooms she purchased some linoleum from the landlord for £3, and was handed a receipt. She had recently given up possession of the rooms, but when she went to remove the linoleum with her other goods, she found that it was so strongly glued down that she ■could not lift it without damaging the floor. The landlord threatened to sue her if she did any damage in removing the huoleum, and, on the other band, had iold her that she was liable to pay hent while her property—the linoleum —was still on the premises. What was she to'do? The magistrate: I am sure I don't know what to do. I should not know what to do if I were in the same . position myseli You must not take , away the house, you know. Some conundrums ar? rather beyond me. This is a nice point which might go to the House of Lords.
