The meteorological report from New Zealand Is moderately favourable, but the Southern Cross’ departure is contingent on a further afternoon report from Wellington. The conditions this side of the Tasman are excellent. WEATHER CONDITIONS. METEOROLOGICAL REPORTS. IMPROVEMENT SOON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. Dr. Ividson's weather report to Sydney is as follows: —A secondary depression is approaching the Dominion, but probably will cross to-day. Tiie winds are sLill strong north-west to south-west. The weather is unsettled, with rain in tiie western districts, which may extend to the eastern areas, but there will be an improvement soon and should moderate by to-morrow. There are moderate to strong south to south-west winds over the East Tasman, and in New Zealand the weather is fair to fine, with considerable clouds in places, and possible showers. Should the flight take place to-night the arrival of the aviators will be announced by a notice on tiie Waikato Times board, a Hag on the Times buildings, and a blast on the gasworks siren. The Post Office will also notify the arrival in they same way as they do for results of the All Blacks in south Africa. The Southern Cross should, if weather conditions arc favourable, reach Christchurch early to-morrow afternoon.
