RUGBY.
A FAVOURED NUIV.'BER. WAIKATO STICKERS AT ELEVEN. It is rather significant to note that In three of the five games the Waikato Rugby representatives have played this season, their total has been eleven points. The season’s results read: — Waikato 0 Auckland 30 Waikato 12 Auckland 23 Waikato 11 Taranaki 24 Waikato 11 King Country 9 Waikato 11 Wanganui 8 Totals 45 94 The remaining fixtures, which will be played at Hamilton, are: September 16.—Taranaki. September 22. —Thames Valley. THE FOURTH TEST. Before. The Springbok met the Kiwi On the evening of the Fourth, Each had a glass of Lager beer From which they blew the froth, Said the Kiwi to the Springbok You’ve won two out of three _ For the honour of New Zealand The Fourth is up to me. After. The Springbok met the Kiwi, To win did both contrive— And the Kiwi proved victorious, With a score, thirteen to five— So now both of them arc equal The score is now—two all. It was giants meeting giants, In the good old game football. THE LESSON. Now, the Kiwi’s learned a lesson, And its really done him good. So he’ll surely take this good advice As a real good sportsman should. "Never fancy you’re invincible, Whatsoever game you play;” ‘‘There’s just as good fish in the sea. "Every dog must have his day.” There’s another tip l‘d like to give, Though this may hurt his pride— In the future never pick defence But a great attacking side For attack will always beat defence, Whatsoever game you play That’s why the Kiwi won the Fourth, By attacking all the way. H. J. Englcfleld, Matangi.
