OVER £3OO INVOLVED. ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY. (Bv Telecrapli pre«s<» Association.) PALMERSTON N„ Friday. Charges involving the theft of over £3OO were preferred against Samuel Herman Bird (28), clerk, in the Police Court this morning. Tlie police gave evidence that accused was employed hy an accountant who is secretary to various companies. H was accused’s duty to receive cheques and pay them into the bank, but several he converted to his own use, as well as appropriating petty cash. The thefts occurred over a period of fourteen months. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed foe sentence.
