BOISTEROUS WEATHER.
HEAVY RAINFALL. RIVER RISES RAPIDLY. Unsettled and stormy weather continues throughout the Waikato. Very heavy rain fell at Hamilton last night, the measures recorded at three local’ meteorological installations for 24 hours to 9 a.rn. being 1.98 in., 2in., and 2.12 i- respectively. It was very nearly the heaviest fall of the present year, the heaviest recorded at Ruakura State Farm having been 2.22 in. on July 23. This morning the wind veered from a northerly to a more vesterly direction, and there have since been violent squalls and heavy showers, with spells of sunshine interspersed. The rains appear to have been general over tlie Waikato Valley and the river lias risen rapidly. From last evening till noon to-day a rise of two feet was recorded and the water level was still on the upward trend this afternoon. No serious damage has been reported from the storm in Hamilton.
