HAMILTON WATERWORKS.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —The Hamilton ißorougii Council is sure out of its reckoning if it thinks the ratepayers wiW seriously consider’ a loan of 40,670 for the waterworks. The bit of pleading about the saving of fire premiums paying the interest and sinking fund ion the loan will cut no Ice with the ratepayers in the!." present mood, and to put it to the vote merely means a rebuff. If thq Council is wise it will reconsider the matter and go ahead with its £15,670 proposal. There is a fighting chance of isa:; beins carried but there is absolutely no hope for the £40,670 scheme. —I arn etc., FRANK HAMIL.
