STOCK SALE.

AT FRANKTON YARDS. BIG YARDING OF BEEF. [ PRICES SLIGHTLY EASIER. There was a decided increase in the yarding of heavy cattle at the Frankton stock yards yesterday, quotations being a little easier than last week. Only a few store cattle came forward. A small consignment of sheep were penned and the demand was not strong, the decrease on last week’s figures being plainly marked. Pigs were yarded in large numbers and incited spirited competition. The table as set out below shows the comparison between this and last week’s quotations:— Beef (per 1001 b).

Farmers' Auctioneering Company. The Farmers' Auctioneering Company Ltd., report: At the Frankton weekly stock market yesterday we had a good entry of fat cattle. Prices for beef were up to the previous week's standard, steers equal to £2 5s per 1001 b., prime cow and heifer beef to 42s per 1001 b. Plain- cattle were slightly easier if anything. Light prime steers, £l4 4s to £l4 15s, young and light fat steers, £ll 13s to £l3 13s; unfinished four-year steers, £ll 7s to £ll 12s; fat cows and heifers, £l2 3s to £l3 lis; me-i dium weights, £lO to £ll 10s; light! £7 18s to £9 10s; store cows, £4 5s | to £5; boners, £3 to £4. Bobby calves. 9s to 13s 6d. A small entry of fat, sheep sold''at firm rates. Fat ewes,, 35s 6d; fat hoggets, 33s 6d; lighthoggets, 275. A full number' of fat; and store pigs were penned and prices were unchanged. Baconers, £3 7s to £3 15s; porkers, £2 5s to £2 13s; slips, 22s to 265; weaners, 12s to 183 6d. Dalgety and Co., Ltd>, Hamilton. Messrs Dalgety and Company report having held their weekly stocksale at Frankton Saleyards yesterday, the 28th instant, as under: There was a large yarding of beef including some very choice lines. There was a good demand and prices were a shade lower than last week, choice ox, sell-j ing at equal to 43s per 1001 b. Choice cows and heifers at equal to 40s.' A truck of prime ox on account of Mr E. W. R. Leslie sold at up to £2O 2s] 6d, these being bought by Mr W. E. j Shattock, the line averaging £l7 7s! 6d. One heifer on account of the; same vendor, £l4 12s 6cL Ordinaryj choice cows and heifers made from, £lO 15s to £l3 7s 6d. Runners made, £7 12s to £7 14s. Light cows and; inferior quality £6 to £8 2s 6d. ( Vealers £2 to £2 14s. There was a small yarding of store cattle, which j met with a very keen demand at high, rates. A pen of forward good quality Shorthorn bullocks made £ll Bs. A pen of Polled Angus cows in calf £7. A pen Hereford and Shorthorn cows, £6 17s 6d. A pen of forward store cows, £6 lis. A pen of Jersey cows, £3 14s. A pen of Shorthorn 'yearling heifers, £4 4s. There was a small yarding of sheep. Prime heavy ewes made 34s 6d to 395. Fat hoggets, 30s to 32s 6d. A pen of store mixed sex hoggets, 27s 7d. There, was a large yarding of both fat amr store pigs. Fats' sold Arm at late ; rates, while stores sold on a par with, previous sale. Best baconers, £3 10s to £3 16s; medium baconers, £2 18s to £3 8s; best porkers, £2 8s to £2. 14s; light porkers, £2 to £2 ss; best, stores £1 12s to £1 16s; slips 18s to' £1 4s; weaners 12s to 16s; others 8a i to lis. Ltd., Hamilton, re- i port: At the Hamilton sale on Tuesday I we had an average entry of beef, j mostly of prime quality, and although ( the varding generally was heavier; than 'usual, late prices for finished, cattle were about maintained. Steers j were J a little easier. A medium en- j try of fat sheep sold at fully late; rales.
