At Brookline Lott and Hennessy advanced to the third round in the doubles by defeating Tapia and Unba (Mexico), G—o, G—o, 6—2. Variryn and Allison defeated William Aydelott and P. G. RockfetJow, 6—3, W. W. Ingraham and A. J. Jones defeated Karl Karnmam and Charles Barnes, G—3, fi—l, 6—2. Cummings and Moon defeated Borotra and Rene Debuzelat (France), 6—• 2, 0—4,0—4, G—l. Cornet and Brugnon defeated Auslen and Gregory (England}, 6—4, 7—• The victory of Cummings end Moon’s over the French is considered here as a startling upset, particularly since Borotra and de Buzeiet yesterday defeated Collins and Iliggs, the English pair. The French \yre erratic, and although occasionally playing dashing tennis, they were -unable to cope with the steady vigorous attack of (he Australians. Wright and Crocker defeated Hopman and Crawford, G—l, o—o, G-—i. Patterson and Hawkes defeated Doeg and Coen, G—4, 8—6,8—6, 6—4. Mixed Doublets. W. R. Williams and Watson Washburn defeated Miss Fred and Don Dixon, o—l, 6—2, 4—6, C—3. Miss Wills and Hawkes defeated Marjorie Giadman and Boussus, 6—2, 6—3.
