TEAM RETURNS TO AUCKLAND. TOUR A FINANCLAL SUCCESS. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The members of the English Rugby League team returned to Auckland this morning after a successful tour of the Dominion, which included the winning of the rubber in the final Test match played at Christchurch on Saturday. " Financially it has been the most successful tour ever made by an English Rugby League team," said Mr F. C Hutchins, one of the managers of the team. " Before we left England we knew that the tour would cost us about £12,000, but when the last match was played in Australia wc had made £7OOO clear profit,, the New Zealand tour has paid its way, and after two matches arc played in Canada on the way back there should be record figures to showMr Hutchins said that the " gates " in New Zealand were as follows: Match at Taupiri, £150; first Test in Auckland, £1900; Auckland Province, £.'ioo; Auckland, £1000; Greymouth, £250: Bullcr, £220; second. Test match (at, Dunedin), £000; iuvcrcargill, £400; third Test at Christchurch, £BOO. The team had had splendid receptions everywhere, and the missionary work accomplished would be invaluable if it were followed up.
