PROBABLE NEXT WEEK. STA.TEMBOTI BY SMITH. (By Telegrapb—Pres3 Asstt—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association). ADELAIDE, August 27. The airmen of the Southern Cross, upon arrival here from Perth, were officially welcomed by representatives of the South Australian Government. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith said it was the hest night flight he had ever made. The leader of the party added that he hoped to commence the flight to New Zealand next week. PLANS FOR THE LANDING PREPARATIONS IN GHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, August 27. Preparations have been completed at the Wigram Aerodrome for the reception of the Southern Cross fliers at the end of the Tasman flight, and for the handling of the crowd. It is deemed necessary to be prepared for very short notice of the definite date and time of the start. The public will be able to witness the landing from the old Canterbury Park racecourse, near the aerodrome. For the entertainment of the spectators, exhibitions of flying and "stunting" will be given by the aerodrome staff. A special short-wave receiving set has been installed at the aerodrome, and messages received in the Morse code from the Southern Cross will be translated and repeated to the public through high-powered loudspeakers which will be placed at various parts.of the ground. It will thus be possible for people who are awaiting the arrival of the airmen to follow the flight minutely. The arrangements in regard to the reception of news have been made by the Canterbury Radio Society. Elaborate plans have been made for handling traffic.
