LIQUOR AT DAIRY SOCIAL

• NORFOLK REUNION. DANGER OF BEING SPOILED. MORE GARB WITH QUOTATIONS. The annual social and dance of the Norfolk Co-operative Dairy Co., held in the hull at Motumaoho, is in danger of passing from the category of social amusements into that of an orgy, judging by the discussion at the an-' nual meeting of suppliers of the company yesterday. The matter came into the limelight on a question being asked if it was necessary to spend as much as £lB 3s 6d pn catering for this annual function, the sum entered in last year's balance-sheet under this heading. One supplier' considered the ladies of the district could do the catering far better at considerably less cost. Last year things in this direction, he said, were badly done and refreshments were very sparse. The chairman, Mr S. A. Ferguson, said the idea was to give the ladies a holiday from work on such occasions. Then the question of the amount of liquor consumed at the dance came up. Someone declared that the reunion was in danger of developing into a drunken orgy unless a check was kept on the libations of some of the dancers. Suppliers would refuse to bring their wives and families along to the reunion if things were allowed to continue as last year.

It was mentioned during the discussion that unseemliness of conduct was due to persons gaining admission who really had no right at the social. Usually there was an invasion of youth from Morrinsville who brought their own liquid refreshment with them and made things over-merry as the night progressed. Filially it was decided that a more circumspect issue of invitations be made in future, and that "they that are not invited shall not come to the feast." .
